I was playing in a tournament last month at DoylesRoom which is a Cake poker network site. The game crashed and I would like some input on the game. I feel the payouts were incorrect.

I was second in the game with about thirty players left the game did go over the guaranteed amount of $1500. The CPN policy for a game crashing is listed below taken from Cake. which is the network policy.

Server Issues

In the event of a server crash, all hands in progress will be rolled back. Each player's chip count will be reset to the amount at the beginning of the hand.
If we experience a server crash or unscheduled downtime of less than 20 minutes we will attempt to restart tournaments as soon as the majority of players have reconnected. If the downtime lasts longer than 20 minutes we reserve the right to cancel tournaments and refund players based on our tournament cancellation policy.

In the Money Tournament Policy

If a tournament is canceled and there are players in the money, we will try to compensate all remaining players based on their play up to the time of the cancellation. This is best achieved by awarding each remaining player with the minimum prize not yet awarded, and the rest of the prize pool will be awarded proportionately based on each players chip count. All remaining players will also receive a refund of their entry fee. Any player who was eliminated prior to the cancellation will not be entitled to a refund. All awards for a tournament cancelled in progress will be cash. If the cancelled tournament has a guaranteed prize pool, only the entry fee will be returned (not the guaranteed prize).

The tournament was in the payouts so my take is after 20 minutes the game should not have restarted. The chip count should be taken from the last hand played. One player at my table returned to the game after the 5 hour break and played for 3 minutes until CPN took the game back down. I was first at my table in chips with 91,000 21% of the table total, the player that returned to the game Crazychevs was in last place at my table with 23,000 chips 5% of the table total. After the retuning player played for 3 minutes and took 20,000 chips from each player he was at 186,151 chips 42% of the table totals.

I have contacted DoylesRoom about this and Trish the room manager seems to not see an error am I wrong about this?

i can see not too many back when this was posted had any interest.
but i have a couple of questions. did the game resume, or did it play out via the server?   oh wait, i see now were at least 2 players returned. what was the final determination on this game?

and i for one would have thought since this was the final table if that is correct. that it should have been paid out according to the chip position as of the crash. particularly if the game was finished out missing the majority of the players. never seems to be any sense of fair play anymore. values and morals are for the weak minded and elderly. at least that seems to be the way so many perceive things to be.

Have we had and DoylesRoom events since this happened. LOL

It restarted with only a few players and after those players ran up thier chips stacks it was canceled and paid out by chip count. crazychevs was one of those players which I had out stacked almost 4 to 1. After he played stealing blinds for the short time it restarted he had me outstacked almost 3 to 1.

i really hate to be the one to say this...... but that is one more good example of why regulation would be a good thing. and why we need some form of control over bs like that.  so many sites of the same network have different policies. and then to top it off they dont or wont even enforce the policies they list as their own. i am not one for more government or government running anything that private industry could and should regulate by their own self interests. but this type of action is just one more reason why regulation would be a overall benefit to the players.

Regulation rarely does any good for the consumer and always makes the regulated product more expensive.  Take for example the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.  In theory the collection industry is "regulated" by the FTC.  Ever try to make a complaint with FTC?  "Regulation" of the poker industry will just result in higher rake to pay licensing fees or directly in taxes on the players.

After I made my first deposit at Cake back in 2006, I had a hand folded on the turn with me ahead with a set of QQ and an A on board.  I was going to stack my opponent who presumably had an ace.  No explanation.  All of the money was refunded and we started over like it never happened.  I got mad and withdrew all my site money.  I have had money on there since, but after 3 years it looks like this nonsense still happens.
